I would like to see a news letter involving the history and highlite’s of the 100 year’s of Dofasco. I come from a family that as of this year has has had the pleasure of working 508 years at Dofasco.. (by the year 2012 we will have 524 year’s of service )I’d like to know if any other family has been able to acheave that mildstone in the history books… I have a break down of the history that my family has to date.

Hi Don – this is an interesting concept. I will bring this to the team for further discussion. In the meantime, we are in fact developing a newsletter. Shall I add you to the distribution list?
Wow! I didn’t know that Dofasco had a TV special. I’m new though, maybe that’s why. What else do you know about it?
Hello,
As a Dofasco Retiree I would like to see an Illustrated News book Created like they did for the 90th anniversery
That was always something nice the company used to publish from time to time
Create a book of the history of Dofasco…that is contact previous senior employees/management to hear what Dofasco was like 100 years ago. Art Linke who is 94 years of age and worked at Dofasco is still alive…contact him. As well contact Aldo Bisci, Dave Friesen, to name a few. Contact John Mayberry, the Sherman sons, I am sure there are many others that would love to share their stories, pictures of what it was like to work at Dofasco. How about a collection of pictures of all the CEOs, VPs, Directors throughout the years. Share major milestones of manufacturing excellence. A book illustrating the art collection, all the donations to the agencies in the community. Inspiring stories from employees. A Where are they now of past CEOs, VPs, etc. Collect and display memorbelia…I happened to be in an Antique shop and saw a metal sign that said Dofasco Rally Club, I didn’t even realize that existed. Create a new logo for the 100th. Have a competition for people to submit their ideas for a logo…get employees engaged. Have trivia puzzles for prizes. Have an event for world leaders, past, present employees and families come and spend time at the Rec Park learning about the history of Dofasco. End the celebration with fireworks. Have a celebration for past and present employees and their families… like rent the Copps Collesium, Hamilton Place, etc. and have a band perform, invite mayor, community leaders, and management to speak. Create activities for kids to learn about the steel industry…maybe that could be part of the Rec Park or partner with Innovation Park. Inspire our youth to want to work at Dofasco. Organize to have students that would normally not have an opportunity to tour Dofasco have that opportunity. Youth are our future. Give out 100 year pins for everyone or Hey, give out $100 bonuses to all employees. See if the Dofasco choir would perform and create a special CD for the 100th. Have the Prime Minister visit. Organize tours for employee/families and their children to tour the facilities. Create a timeline/milestone wall of the history of Dofasco. Interview people to find out what makes the company great, inside and outside the community. Create a documentary. Show it on PBS or TVO.
Can you give me the website for Dofasco retirees.
Tks
Hi Steve – sorry for the late reply. It is not yet live — soon enough!
