This Ain’t Hollywood – Ode to Catherine North Studio @ the HMAs

In 2009, This Ain’t Hollywood garnered the awards for Live Club, Talent Buy - Lou Molinaro, and Sound Engineer - Doug Smith; and this year they are hoping to repeat the trifecta at the 2010 Hamilton Music Industry Awards Saturday night at the McIntrye Theatre.

The proud North End Rock N Roll is hosting artists that have recorded at Catherine North Studios in Hamilton, Ontario Thursday through Saturday.

Thursday’s show began with Ophelia Syndrome, a jazzy ensemble consisting of Deanna (piano and vocals), Trina (cello), Adrian (drums) and Josh (bass).  The Ophelia Syndrome began in 1998 with Deanna and her duet partner Danielle, with the recent additions of Trina (2002), Josh and Adrian (2007) rounding out the sound.  They are currently in the process of recording their second LP, and you can support them by visiting sellaband.com where they are extremly close to reaching their goal, allowing them to finish their recordings.

Next up on stage at This Ain’t Hollywood was the beat kicking duo of Nick (drums) and Amanda (guitar and vocals), aka The Coppertone.  The sound of these performers is intense and nothing like what you will find if you google Amanda Zelina and view her previous work.  Since working with Nick, the sound has become faster and harder. The vocals of this young lady are fantastic and courtesy of them, we have a Vinyl/Digital Download to give away.  More info coming soon.  You can support The Coppertone through their website http://thecoppertone.com

The Kents rounded out the evening, playing their version of rock n roll.  All the songs were new to me, as the bass player kept pointing out!  These gentleman have a great sense of humour to go with the riffs and the three of them jammed and had people dancing until the final song, a cover of Jailbreak.   If anyone knows the website for these guys, leave it in the comments so I can find out where they are playing again.
