The Women’s Art Association of Hamilton, the WAAH, was establisehd in 1894 and was a branch of the Women’s Art Association of Canada. It’s founding members included Sara Galbraith Calder, Clara Galbreaith, Florence Birely, Mrs. A.T. Freed, Aleda Burns and Mrs. Roland Hills.
The WAAH is one of the oldest cultural groups in the city of Hamilton, Ontario. The WAAH provided a venue for women artists and art-supporters to share their appreciation of visual arts and to further support the arts within Hamilton. This included fundraising for scholarships, prizes, hosting lectures, and exhibits.
